Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dregs or Gem?

Abstract

Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is the traditional medicine of the Chinese people, which was the  medical treatment system of remedies, Herb Medication, and medical ethics in ancient China. Chinese traditional medicine initiated in primitive tribal society and the its theory has formed its frame and fundamental values during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period (770 BC to 221 BC). After that, the knowledge of Chinese medicine was extracted and developed in each dynasty; thus, forming a well-known traditional Chinese medicine. For more than 2,000 years, TCM has had a far-reaching influence on traditional medicine in the cultural sphere of Chinese characters (Hànzì), such as the Japanese Kanpō medicine, the Vietnamese Đông medicine, the Korean Koryo medicine, and so on. They are all derived and developed on the basis of traditional Chinese medicine. Before the emergence of modern medicine, traditional medicine was the only way for human to treat their own diseases. Traditional medicine of different ethnic tribes was developed from their experiences, remedies, herbs, and knowledge of treating their own diseases. Needless to say, traditional medicine was formed that included dregs such as worship of ghosts and gods, witchcraft, spells, and so on; as a result of fear of unexplainable and unusual natural phenomena and diseases. However, the role and contribution of traditional medicine in human history cannot be completely denied due to the facts of these existence. Nowadays, modern medicine has been highly developed and is advancing rapidly. traditional medicine should be an alternative to modern medicine. For traditional Chinese medicine, traditional medicine of Chinese People, is that dregs or gem, witchcraft or art, superstition or science? Human beings should take a scientific attitude to respect traditional Chinese medicine and evaluate it rationally. In this paper, the author proposes to rename traditional Chinese medicine as Han Chinese Medicine instead, and while Han Chinese Medicine, together with Chinese Tibetan medicine (CTM), Mongolian traditional medicine, Uigur traditional medicine and other traditional Chinese medicine, is collectively referred to as "Chinese traditional medicine"; furtherly, Chinese traditional medicine, together with Japanese Kanpō medicine, Vietnam Đông medicine, Korean Koryo medicine, and Asian Arab medicine, is collectively referred to as "Asian traditional medicine".eloped in each dynasty; thus, forming a well-known traditional Chinese medicine.
